In VFX, the most rewarding compliment we can get is this: “I didn’t even notice it was visual effects.”
That’s exactly the kind of magic we aim for at Lampion Pictures. Every shot we touch — whether it’s a subtle cleanup or a full-scale digital environment — is built on a simple idea: the best VFX doesn’t pull focus, it pulls you deeper into the story.
When we begin a project, the first step is never software or simulation. It’s intention.
What emotion should this moment carry? What should the audience feel before they even know why?
Only after answering these questions do we open Houdini, Nuke, Unreal Engine, or whatever tool the shot demands. Technology is part of our workflow, but storytelling is our compass.

A typical breakdown in our studio starts with gathering the raw plates and isolating the invisible problems: shaky edges, unwanted reflections, mismatched lighting, lens distortions. These are the details viewers will never consciously notice — unless we fail to fix them. From there, we layer in the creative effects: particle simulations, volumetrics, set extensions, digital doubles, or whatever the scene requires to elevate reality without overwhelming it.
What most people don’t see is how many iterations it takes to reach “effortless.”
We refine composites frame by frame. We test lighting dozens of times. We run renders overnight, then rerender them because a shadow was one percent off.
It’s obsessive, meticulous work — and we love every second of it.
Because for us, VFX isn’t about spectacle.
It’s about creating worlds where the audience forgets what’s real and what’s crafted, and simply feels the moment.
This blog series will take you behind the curtain, shot by shot, to show how our invisible craft shapes unforgettable stories.
Welcome to the Breakdown.
